Thank God It’s Friday!  Thank God for these readings:  Psalm 106:1-18 – Leviticus 23:1-22 – 2 Thessalonians 2:1-17 – Matthew 7:1-12!

Don’t be so judgie!  Judgie?  Is that even a word? You get the idea.  No one like to think that they are judgmental.  Problem is we mistake judging with helpful correction.  The deal is this:  Right is right – wrong is wrong!  Jesus in today’s reading from Matthew is calling us to deal with our own junk.  When I have my junk dealt with I can help others!  How are you doing?

What does it mean to be blameless or holy?  We usually think that being holy is being perfect.  That is true – the word holy does imply the someone is perfect – sort of.  When we talk about God being Holy, we are saying He is perfect!  But what about us? 1 Thessalonians has Paul asking that God would sanctify us through and through.  To sanctify is basically to make someone holy.  But when we talk about humans, holy means to be set apart for a special purpose.  Jesus died to make us holy and blameless.  He took all our guilt and we are now free to serve.  What a cool concept and prayer for us to pray – that God would continue to set me apart for His plan.  Count me in!

Wow! Jesus really elevates things in Matthew 5!  So it’s not cool for me to have issues with others, hurt them, or not deal with the junk in my relationships and still just do the church thing like nothings wrong?  Yup, pretty much!  Oh Man! I thought my faith and my life be two separate things – shouldn’t they be?  Nope!
