Day 35!  Saturday has arrived at long last!  Genesis 50 and Matthew 12:38-45

Big question about all this Bible Reading:  does it have anything to do with you?  Think about that as you read – what is God trying to tell you?  Is He trying to comfort or challenge you?  Does God what you to wake up and believe in Him.  One thing is for sure – He loves you and wants you to know that!  Believe It!

Day 13 – Hey! Its a friday reading party! Genesis 22-23 – Matthew 6:1-34.
Tough passage for today – the deal with Abraham being asked to sacrifice his son Isaac! What is the deal with this section? Why would God ask him to do this?
I do not think there is an easy answer with this passage. God asks him to sacrifice him as a burnt offering – not like a burnt offering – an actual burnt offering. So what gives? I thought God wasnt into killing. I thought He was way into family. And hey, isnt this kid part of the promise of God? Yes he is.
So what is the issue here? What is God trying to do? It could be a test and God isnt really going to let him go through with it. Thats what happens and we have to take it from there. This is one where the what ifs lead us to a dark place. God wants to teach all of us that HE is the ultimate! Nothing is more important than God!

Whoa – Friday Everyone! 2 Kings 17, Titus 3, Hosea 10, and Psalm 70-71!

Here we are in Titus 3 and Paul gets really tough.  He reminds us that how we live matters.  Yes we are saved because of what Jesus did – 100%! His dying and rising have given us new life.  So what does that new life look like – Paul has an answer.  Our new life is all about living like people who have been loved and forgiven by God – as people who are heirs of all that God has to give!  Can you think of what living for God looks like?  I think it has to do with conveying Gods truth and strengthening His people.  What do you think?

Happy Friday to one and all!  2 Kings 9, 1 Timothy 6, Hosea 1, and Psalm 58-59!

Hosea – wow – what a story.  You know we are always told to choose our mates a certain way.  We usually avoid the kind of people that will end up on the show “Cheaters” (not that I watch that sort of thing – seriously, its like coed UFC).  Hosea is told by God to marry a whore and to have kids who are whores.  What?  Is this the Bible?  I know, I know! Its rough stuff.

The deal with Hosea is that his life will be this HUGE object lesson for Gods people who have been incredibly unfaithful.  They keep turning away from the God who loves them to serve other gods.  What pain Hosea must have felt as he literally bears the weight of this message.  The question then becomes this – how are we unfaithful to God?  In what areas of your life are you betraying Him?  Time to come clean my friends and enjoy the love and forgiveness of God in Christ!
