10.31.2011 – Trick or Treat – Yeah Right!

Oct 31

Trick or Treat?  Hows about something better – readings from God Himself!  2 Kings 13, 2 Timothy 3, Hosea 5-6, and Psalm 64-65!

I don’t really like Halloween.  Seems like you can be as Scrooge-like as you want during Christmas but don’t knock Halloween.  Weird.  Today is the birthday for my twins! They rule and I pray that today is as cool for you as it is for me.  For me it’s all about death – and cake – and candy.  They can keep all the death and scary.  Reality without Christ is the ultimate horror!

Mid week – oh yeah!!!!!!  2 Kings 7, 1 Timothy 4, Daniel 11, and Psalm 55!

Psalm 55:16 -  ”As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.”  How about you?  How about me?  Can we call upon Lord, knowing that He will save us – knowing that in Jesus He had saved us?  Yes we can call upon Him.  What needs to happen for that to become reality?  Lets talk!

10.15.2011 – Hope!

Have a great Saturday! 1 Kings 18, 1 Thessalonians 1, Ezekiel 48, and Psalm 39.

Shooting over to the Psalms for a sec.  Psalm 39 has some interesting thoughts about life.  The writer says this: “O Lord, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am!” He goes on to write that God has “made my days a few handbreadths, and my lifetime is as nothing before you.”  Why talk this way?  What is the point?

The point is a massive one.  Man is pretty tiny compared to God.  God made us and He is the one who saves us! Our hope is in Him!  What an incredible truth to take with you today!

Check it out – Bible Readings – Everywhere: 1 Kings 17, Colossians 4, Ezekiel 47, and Psalm 38.

Paul prays. Paul encourages others to pray.  Seems like a no brainer but its so important.  Prayer is so essential and Paul gives us something great to pray about.  Pray that Gods Words is preached with clarity.  Pray that preachers will have courage and that all would respond to Gods Word.  So pray!

Did you say you wanted more Bible reading? Cool – here you are:  2 Samuel 24, Galatians 4, Ezekiel 31, and Psalm 18.

I checked the calendar and there is no mistake.  Christmas is still a ways away.  Yet check out the Galatians passage.  It says in verse 4 that “when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.”  Sounds like Christmas to me.  Sure, there’s no Frosty or Rudolph or Santa, but Jesus and His birth are in there.  Pay particular attention to the reason Jesus was born – to redeem (read save or forgive us) us!  So Merry Early Christmas – so whatcha get me?
