3.28.2012 – God is with us!

Mar 28

Wednesday Psalm 119:145-176, Exodus 7:1-24, 2 Corinthians 2:14-3:6, Mark 10:1-16
Today I learned that God is with us! I have always known that and yet it doesn’t always sink in like it should. There have been so many folks I know that are dealing with lose and tragedy this week. It has felt overwhelming for many of them and yet many have told me of God’s presence in the middle of intense sadness! God is good! What are you going through that we can pray for? Leave your requests in a comment or email!

2.23.2012 – When God Shows Up!

Ashes to Fire day 2 – Psalm 37, Habakkuk 3:1-18, Philippians 3:12-21, and John 17:1-18.

Some inspiration for your shoveling: Gen 35-36, Mark 6, Job 2, and Romans 6

Romans 6 – Talk about radical! Most of us think of Christianity as going to church on Sunday, saying some prayers, or agreeing to what some religious guy says. Paul says it is so much more. We have been baptized into Christ’s Death and are united with Him in His Resurrection! So we are to look at our lives in a completely different way. Instead of flirting with sin, Paul says that we are to count ourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ. That does not mean that sin won’t mess with or that temptation will all go away! Temptations will be there, but we can turn to God in Christ and know we are forgiven. Trusting that Jesus died to forgive our sins, we can see sin for what it is – a bringer of death and destruction! And there is more – we can see God as the giver of life. Our slavery is ended – we can serve God now! Where do you find your life? In Christ?

On the plate today: Gen 29, Matt 28, Esther 5, Acts 28
He is Alive! Yesterday we looked at Jesus’ death to forgive us! That is incredible and changes everything. Today we read that Jesus is alive. Question is: what does that mean for you? For me it means everything! It means that I will always have hope! When everything around me tanks – Jesus is alive and is with me. What is true for me is true for you. What would having a hope that never fails do for you?
