3.28.2012 – God is with us!

Mar 28

Wednesday Psalm 119:145-176, Exodus 7:1-24, 2 Corinthians 2:14-3:6, Mark 10:1-16
Today I learned that God is with us! I have always known that and yet it doesn’t always sink in like it should. There have been so many folks I know that are dealing with lose and tragedy this week. It has felt overwhelming for many of them and yet many have told me of God’s presence in the middle of intense sadness! God is good! What are you going through that we can pray for? Leave your requests in a comment or email!

3.24.2012 – Big!

Read – Read – Read!  Psalm 108:1-13 – Exodus 2:23-3:15 – 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 – Mark 14-29.

Another cool Psalm for today!  I dig how the Psalms put things – so very massive are the words that used.  In Psalm 108 – Be exalted, O God, above the heavens!  Let your glory be over all the earth!  Lots of exclamation marks! Problem is that we tend to belittle God and put limits on Him so that we can have Him work how we want Him to work.  Its such a good thing that He is over all things and control of all of this world.  I need to be reminded of that every day! How about you?  Do you struggle with letting God be God?

Today it is time for a check up.  How is it going?  Any comments on how this years trip through the Bible has gone as we head towards the home stretch?  Let me know what are your biggest questions so far and what is God doing through His Word?

7.21.2011 – updated

Boy, vacation has made me late again.  Here are the readings:  Judges 4, Acts 8, Jeremiah 17, and Mark 3.

Now, something about Acts.  When you read through Acts, notice this pattern.  So very often you have the disciples in a difficult or impossible situation.  They have been preaching about Jesus and then someone causes trouble and they are attacked or arrested and something odd happens.  People believe in Jesus.  Time after time – things look impossible and God does His thing – people believe! How quickly we are shut down because of less.  We just think that someone will think badly of us because of our faith and we back down.  The church needs to read Acts again and to reconnect with the God who does amazing things so that people will believe that He loves them!

7.17.2011 – listen up!

Jul 17

Joshua 24, Acts 4, Jeremiah 13, and Matthew 27.
Sorry about yesterday – I am on vacation and wasn’t around to post anything much. Today I get be on the other side of the preaching thing. I get to listen. But as I think about it, I am always listening – at least I should be. I would have nothing to preach if I didn’t listen to God and His Word! So we’re always in receive and send mode. God gives – we receive the message – it changes us – we send it to others. Are you listening?
