4.10.2012 – What God Does!

Once again Jesus is still alive – all week – all of eternity – alive!  Psalm 103 – Exodus 12:28-42 – 1 Corinthians 15:12-28 – Mark 16:9-20.

Check out Psalm 103:

1 Praise the Lord, O my soul;

all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

2 Praise the Lord, O my soul,

and forget not all his benefits—

3 who forgives all your sins

and heals all your diseases,

4 who redeems your life from the pit

and crowns you with love and compassion,

5 who satisfies your desires with good things

so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

6 The Lord works righteousness

and justice for all the oppressed.

7 He made known his ways to Moses,

his deeds to the people of Israel:

8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious,

slow to anger, abounding in love.

9 He will not always accuse,

nor will he harbor his anger forever;

10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve

or repay us according to our iniquities.

11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,

so great is his love for those who fear him;

12 as far as the east is from the west,

so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

13 As a father has compassion on his children,

so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;

14 for he knows how we are formed,

he remembers that we are dust.

15 As for man, his days are like grass,

he flourishes like a flower of the field;

16 the wind blows over it and it is gone,

and its place remembers it no more.

17 But from everlasting to everlasting

the Lord’s love is with those who fear him,

and his righteousness with their children’s children—

18 with those who keep his covenant

and remember to obey his precepts.

19 The Lord has established his throne in heaven,

and his kingdom rules over all.

It is true for You – Believe it!

11.5.2011 – Lead!

Nov 05

Have a great Saturday – start it in the Word: 2 Kings 18, Philemon 1, Hosea 11, and Psalm 72!

Today,

God talks about leaders. In Psalm 72, Solomon (who is the King) refers to the King.  He asks God to make the King a Godly man who rules in Godly ways.  Usually, we just complain about our leaders.  What if we prayed for them? What if we simply asked God to give leaders the ability to take care of the people the way they are supposed to? Solomon was not perfect and either are any of our leaders.  I say we set the bar (like Solomon does) really high for ourselves and our leaders. Then, let’s all ask God for the strength to lead as God has called us and others to lead.  Cool? Let’s do this thing!

10.28.2011 – Whoa!

Happy Friday to one and all!  2 Kings 9, 1 Timothy 6, Hosea 1, and Psalm 58-59!

Hosea – wow – what a story.  You know we are always told to choose our mates a certain way.  We usually avoid the kind of people that will end up on the show “Cheaters” (not that I watch that sort of thing – seriously, its like coed UFC).  Hosea is told by God to marry a whore and to have kids who are whores.  What?  Is this the Bible?  I know, I know! Its rough stuff.

The deal with Hosea is that his life will be this HUGE object lesson for Gods people who have been incredibly unfaithful.  They keep turning away from the God who loves them to serve other gods.  What pain Hosea must have felt as he literally bears the weight of this message.  The question then becomes this – how are we unfaithful to God?  In what areas of your life are you betraying Him?  Time to come clean my friends and enjoy the love and forgiveness of God in Christ!

2 Kings 6, 1 Timothy 3, Daniel 10, and Psalm 52-54!

Hope you enjoy today’s readings!  Ask yourself as you read 1 Timothy 3 – does my life connect with this?  Sure – its for Church leaders, but aren’t we all leaders in various situations?  Aren’t we called to serve God with integrity?  Let’s go with integrity for all.

10.18.2011 – How to Walk?

Oct 18

OK OK OK – Here are the readings!  1 Kings 21, 1 Thessalonians 4,  Daniel 3, and Psalm 44.

Ok, maybe you believe in Jesus – maybe you struggle with that.  Maybe you wandered onto this blog.  Either way – here we are.  If you are a believer in Christ – Paul has something for you in 1 Thes 4.  He calls us to live a life that is consistent with what we believe.  Should it be a surprise to people who are around you to find out you are a Christian?  No way – it should be evident – not in a pushy, but loving way.  Its time to look at our faith and our lives and see if they are saying the same thing.  What do you think?
