Good?  Friday?  Yup!  Psalm 22 – Lamentations 3:1-9, 19-33 – 1 Peter 1:10-20 – John 13:36-38

How can Jesus suffering and dying be good? Are we nuts?  No way!  We are not crazy.  Jesus dying for us is good because it is FOR US!  It is for our forgiveness and it gives us life and that it ALL GOOD!

2.23.2012 – When God Shows Up!

Feb 23

Ashes to Fire day 2 – Psalm 37, Habakkuk 3:1-18, Philippians 3:12-21, and John 17:1-18.

Paul calls us to press on – to keep serving God no matter what. His truth is that we are citizens of heaven and that makes a difference in how we live. This gets right to the question that Ashes to Fire seeks to address. What happens when the Almighty creator of all steps into our everyday existence? What would you love to see happen in your life? What do you want more of or less of?

2.15.2012 – Change is Coming!

Day 46 anyone?  That’s right – more readings Exodus 15 and Matthew 15:21-28!

In one week something called Lent will begin.  It’s this cool time in the church where we look at our need for Christ and His gift of forgiveness and love.  That is really important thing for us to do – to focus on Jesus.  Jesus is the focus of all Scripture and His dying for human beings brings us back to God!  So we will be doing something differently on this blog starting next Wednesday (Feb 22, 2012).  We will take like a three month break from our trek through the Bible to get into some different readings from the Bible.  We will be hitting something called Ashes to Fire and the Bible readings it lines up each day!  Sound Good?  We will still be in the Word – just not chronologically.  Cool!

9.16.2011 – Who is Your Nathan?

Sep 16

Friday is HERE!  yeah!  Let’s read: 2 Samuel 12, 2 Corinthians 5, Ezekiel 19, and John20.

Awesome stuff in 2 Samuel 12!  A little background.  David is King of Israel and has been a relatively good guy up to this point.  Then he sins by sleeping with and getting Bathsheba pregnant.  He also had the husband of Bathsheba killed to cover up the whole adultery thing.  Yikes! I know; weird right?

Enter Nathan.  He starts giving David a for instance.  After hearing this horrible story, David says he’d let the guy who would take advantage of someone like that have it!  No Mercy!  Nathan then says – You da’ man!  He had sinned.  David had slept with someone who was not his wife and murdered.  He has to own this reality.  He needed God to forgive him – so do we.  As you read this, do you tend to want to blast others who sin and yet want God to forgive you?  I pray that we all have a dude like Nathan to help us see the sin in our lives and take it to the cross of Christ.  Do you have a Nathan?
